NATURIST BEACHES IN PORTUGAL. Bela Vista. Naturist beach located between Caparica and Fonte da Telha, South of Lisbon. Official Naturist Beach, wide shore and dunes.

Adegas. Naturist beach located South of Odeceixe, on Algarve's West Coast. Little pleasant beach, attended mainly by naturists.

Barril. An enchanting journey crossing a Nature Reserve by narrow gauge train. On About one hour's drive eastwards from Ferragudo is to be found the island beach of Barril. Take the A22 Motorway eastwards, towards Spain. On reaching the old N125, Faro to Tavira road, continue eastwards passing through Tavira da la Luz, maybe taking a moment to admire the plasterwork friezes which adorn the elevations of the old churches and cottages in this historic and picturesque Portuguese town. Shortly afterwards, turn right towards the beach, signposted Pedras del Rei. Continue down this countrylane for about 1 km, passing thrugh a small development of holiday cottages. At the end of this road, you will see a barrier and lots of car parking beside the estuary. Leave your car and cross the Baileys bridge and the tiny station is directly in front of you. For €1 you can enjoy an enchanting ride across the estuary to the beach resort of Barril, which offers several excellent beach bars, clean toilets and first aid facilities. The self-service cafeteria is particularly recommended. The beach frequented by naturists is to be found to the left of the beach bars, about 300 meters from the anchor graveyard.

Bicas. Naturist beach located South of Meco, between Lagoa de Albufeira and Sesimbra. Sand stretch protected by cliffs, nudism on the north end.

Cabanas Velhas. Naturist beach located in Algarve, West of Lagos, near Burgau. Large white sand beach with plenty of rocks and undulating cliffs to provide shelter, well frequented by naturists from the nearby campsite, which has a small area dedicated to naturist campers. From Lagos take the EN125 towards Sagres. From the roundabout junction of the A22 and EN125 (you may join the rout at this junction if you have come from the motorway A22 from Portimão) take the exit labeled to Sagres and Vila do Bispo along the EN125. After 8.8k at the signpost to Burgau turn right to cross the EN125 on the Burgau road. After 2.4k turn right at the sign for Boca do Rio. After 2.2k you find a narrow road to the left signposted Cabanas Velhas. You can park close to the beach and most naturists choose to go right from the car park.

Cabedelo. Naturist beach located in Gaia, on River Douro's mouth. On the hill opposite to the sea.

Caneiros. Naturist beach located in Algarve, at Ferragudo, near Portimão. Small cosy beach with the view of the century.

Fonte da Telha. Naturist beach located between Bela Vista and Meco, South of Lisbon. Wide shore, cliffs, dunes and bush, nudism on the south side.

Furnas. Naturist beach located in Algarve, East of Vila do Bispo, near Figueira. A very well sheltered beach from all but southerly winds: a little paradise. From Lagos continue westwards along the EN125 until the roundabout junction of the A22 and EN125 (you may join the rout at this junction if you have come from the motorway A22 from Portimão) take the exit labeled to Sagres. At the junction with Parque da Floresta and Figueira (14.3k) continue for a further 1.4k and turn sharp left signposted Figueira and Forte da Figueira. After 50 meters turn right onto dirt road. Continue straight for 1.1k bearing left towards the sea. Bear right downhill and after a further 1k cross a small concrete bridge, turn immediately left continuing along the gully, crossing a small ford, towards the sea. Park at end of track.

Gralha. Naturist beach located near S. Martinho do Porto, South of Nazaré. Small sand beach under a cliff.

Ilha de Tavira. Naturist beach located in Algarve, between Olhão and Tavira. Official Naturist Beach. Attractive, sandy island reached by frequent ferryboats from the mainland. This nudist beach is about one hour drive from Ferragudo to Tavira, leaving the A22 motorway at junction 16 and continuing 4 km along the N270 signposted Tavira. Follow signs for Centro, passing this delightfully pretty old town. Upon reaching the river, turn right southwards, signposted Praia. Continue along riverside past the salt flats and at the end park wherever possible. Continue by foot to ferry pontoon at the end of the road. The ferries leave frequently but have no set timetable. Tickets cost €1 each return and are bought on the boat.

Malhão. Naturist beach located in Alentejo, North of Milfontes. Shallow cliffs, water springs, nudity on the north side.

Meco. Naturist beach located between Lagoa de Albufeira and Sesimbra, South of Lisbon. Official Naturist Beach, wide shore, cliffs with spring water.

Meia Praia. A long sandy beach with dunes behind providing shelter from any winds. Take the EN125 direction for Lagos. At the third set of traffic lights (16k) in Vila de Odiaxere, turn left following the signs for Meia Praia and Palmeiras golf. Enter the gateway of Palmeiras golf and continue along the tarmac road with a beautiful view of Alvor estuary. Past the club house at the bottom of the hill bear left over the railway line (beware of trains!). Continue alongside the railway for 300meters and turn right onto dirt road, parking at the end of the golf course fence. Walk 50 meters on sandy path to beach, most naturists choose to go right.

Orbitur. Naturist beach located South of Figueira da Foz, past Praia da Cova. South of Orbitur textile Camping. White sand and high dunes.

Pessegueiro. Naturist beach located in front of the Island, between Porto Covo and Milfontes. Rock formations and white sand, nudism on the little beaches.

Praia da Afurada. Probably the most beautiful beach in the world.

Praia do Salto. Naturist beach located near Porto Covo, between Cerro da Águia and Cerca Nova. Official Naturist Beach, on the Sines County.

Praia Grande. Naturist beach located in Algarve, between Pera and Albufeira, near Salgados. Long white sand beach, sea normally quiet, good for swimming

Praias de Amado & Carrapeteira. Two sandy, West Coast beaches surrounded by cliffs. Often ideal for surfing. Take the A22 motorway westwards, taking the exit for Vila de Bispo and Lagos. Follow the signs for Vila de Bispo. After approximately 53 km, turn right signed Aljezur and V. Bispo. After 50 meters bear right, signed Aljezur. After 13.6 km, just before the village of Carrapeteira, turn left signposted Praia de Amado. Continue along this road for a further 2 km. Car parking is available overlooking the beach. If you continue further along this beach/cliff road you will come to Praia de Carrapeteira.

Prainha. Naturist beach located in Algarve, between Lagos and Portimão. Rock slopes, small caves, white sand, nudism on the East side.

Rio da Prata. Naturist beach located between Meco and Bicas. Wide sand beach, less than a mile South of Meco.

Salgado. Naturist beach located between Nazaré and Peniche. Occasional nudity.

Samouco. Naturist beach located between Vieira de Leiria and S. Pedro de Moel. Wide stretch of white sand.

Ursa. Naturist beach located near Cabo da Roca, between Sintra and Cascais. Tiny beach, steep slopes, white sand, difficult to reach but very pretty.

Vale de Figueiras. Long sandy West Coast . European nude topless beaches - naturist beach, naked beach in Europe. . Often ideal for surfing. On reaching the roundabout at the end of the motorway, take the second exit sign posted Aljezur, Sines and Lisboa. After 4.5 km, turn left at the mini roundabout on the left signposted Sagres and Alfambras. Continue on this road for 5.2 km then turn right at the t-junction, direction Aljezur. After 1 km turn left, signposted Figueiras. Continue along tarmac road for a further 2.3 km. Look for house with bread oven and small sign for Praia. At this point take the right hand fork along the dirt track. Half a kilometer later, bear left and enjoy the wonderful view of the sea over rolling hills. Continue along this track down to the beach, a total of 2.5 km on dirt track road.
